Goal Beyond Induction: My goal beyond induction is to refine my practice by prioritizing what truly impacts student learning. I aim to streamline my processes, eliminate unnecessary complexities, and focus on consistently delivering high-quality instruction and meaningful content. By shifting my attention away from minor nuances and toward what genuinely moves learning forward, I can be more intentional, efficient, and effective in my role.
Continue to collaborate with the performing arts teachers on campus to refine my teaching practices and tailor choreography to the abilities of the students.
Collaborate with the high school to create shared space performing opportunities to encourage students to continue on in Dance and/or other performing arts classes.
Attend confrences meant for educators in my subject area.
Not be afraid to try something new and push my boundaries as a choreographer.
Observe your student population before you try to structure lesson plans. Figure out what logistics procedures work for your campus and others that do not. Relying on your PE department veteran teachers and their wisdom will eliminate a lot of stress on your end.
Do not be afraid to admit you were wrong. Students need to see that even you as a teacher are capable of making mistakes. They need to see that you are human.
Try new things when old things don't work. Don't be so set in your ways to keep things "the same" when there clearly needs to be a change to make your life easier or make your classroom teaching more effective.
Roll with the punches. At the end of the day, this is just teaching. You are so much more than just a teacher. Do not take work, stress from work, or a bad attitude home with you. You are YOU too. Take care of yourself.
